Attic Insulation Humble
The Texas weather can change unexpectedly, here in Humble we have to worry about keeping our homes cool and comfortable when it’s hot outside. According to research done at the Berkeley National Laboratory up to 85% of a house’s temperature is lost through the attics, and 90% of homes are under insulated. This proves that the most important place to ensure your insulation is in it’s best shape is in your home is your attic. Insulation has R ratings, which is determined by its restrictive heat flow, the larger the R rating, the better it will insulate. Homes that are older and have not had insulation replaced or added have an R rating of about 11. However, since we have seen advancement in insulation products, newer homes have an R-value of 38 or higher. Having the correct kind and the right amount of insulation for your home is the best way to ensure your home is efficient while maintaining a comfortable temperature. DIY attic insulation may be tempting, but incorrect installation can lead to issues such as poor air flow in the to allow the hot air to escape your home. Spray In or Batting
Aura is proud to have attic insulation Humble technicians that are knowledgeable about the different insulation types and applications. At Aura, we use spray in insulation and batting insulation. Spray in insulation is loose fill insulation fibers that are sprayed into place at a depth to provide the best R rating and insulation. We use spray in insulation for attics that have irregular joist spacing, obstructions, or attics that already have spray in insulation utilized. Alternatively, batting insulation is flexible insulation material that is packaged in rolls and cut to size to fit between the joists in attics and can be layered on top of each other to get the desired R rating. We use batting insulation in attics that have standard joist spacing, or if we are completely replacing an attic’s attic insulation.
